The entire 6th grade class will be traveling to Albany to experience two great presentations relating to our study of Ancient Egypt. Students will visit the Albany Institute of History and Art to participate in their “Ancient Egypt Art & Culture” program. The Albany Institute’s collection of art and artifacts from ancient Egypt and its two mummies provide students with an opportunity to learn about ancient Egypt hieroglyphs and symbols; funerary object, religious practices; and culture and customs of daily life. They will also visit the Albany Visitors Center to experience their “Ancient Egypt Stars of the Pharaoh” program at the Henry Hudson Planetarium. This program explores the Ancient Egyptian obsession with astronomy and its influence on their religion, government, and daily life.
